Static and dynamic convergence behavior of adaptive blind equalizers

چکیده
This paper presents a theoretical analysis of the static and dynamic convergence behavior for a general class of adaptive blind equalizers. We rst study the properties of prediction error functions of blind equalization algorithms, and then we use these properties to analyze the static and dynamic convergence behavior based on the independent assumption. We prove in this paper that with a small step-size, the ensemble average of equalizer coeecients will converge to the minimum of the cost function near the channel inverse. However, the convergence is not consistent. The correlation matrix of equalizer coeecients at equilibrium is determined by a Lyapunov equation. According to our analysis results, for a given channel and step-size, there is an optimal length for an equalizer to minimize the intersymbol interference. This result implies that a longer-length blind equalizer does not necessarily outperform a shorter one, as contrary to what conventionally conjectured. The theoretical analysis results are connrmed by computer simulations.

متن کاملOn the convergence of blind adaptive equalizers for constant modulus signals
This paper studies the behavior of the error sequence of stop-and-go variants of two adaptive blind equalizers, namely CMA2-2 and Sato’s algorithm. It is shown that for transmitted signals with constant modulus , the equalizer output can be made to lie within the circle of radius p c infinitely often, for some value of c that is only slightly larger than one.
متن کاملAdaptive blind equalizers with automatically controlled parameters
Signals when pass through a channel undergo various forms of distortion, most common of which is Inter-symbol-interference, so called ISI. Inter-symbol interference induced errors can cause the receiver to misinterpret the received samples. Equalizers are important parts of receivers, which minimizes the linear distortion produced by the channel. If channel characteristics are known a priori, t...

متن کاملA Dynamic Tap Allocation for Concurrent CMA-DD Equalizers
This paper proposes a dynamic tap allocation for the concurrent CMA-DD equalizer as a low complexity solution for the blind channel deconvolution problem. The number of taps is a crucial factor which affects the performance and the complexity of most adaptive equalizers. Generally an equalizer requires a large number of taps in order to cope with long delays in the channel multipath profile. Si...
